A team leader/supervisor is a first line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. They provide direction, instructions and guidance to ensure the achievement of set goals. Working in the private, public or third sector and in all sizes of organisation, specific responsibilities will vary, but the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed will be the same whatever the role.
Key responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems, and building relationships internally and externally.
Roles/Occupations may include: Supervisor, Team Leader, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift Manager.
Aims and objectives of these qualifications
The aim of this apprenticeship is to provide employers in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors with a Management ready workforce who have the skills, knowledge and competencies to Lead the use of business systems, processes and services and can help other to contribute to making businesses more efficient and productive.

Equip individuals with the required skills, knowledge and experience needed to undertake roles as a Team Leader / Supervisor
Provide apprentices with an opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and experience they will need to progress to roles with additional responsibilities and onto further and higher education, if they wish to do so
There are no mandatory entry requirements for these apprenticeship qualifications. However we are looking to attract applicants who have a keen interest in business and/or a particular interest in legal or medical administration careers. We expect applicants to demonstrate a “can do” attitude and have at least basic numeracy and literacy skills on which the apprenticeship will build.
